Hello. This is
an old website.
My professional background is in both the public and private sectors. I have been public information officer for Multnomah County (the county for Portland, Oregon) and I have done public relations for US Bank, The Benj. Franklin Savings and Loan (rest in peace) and for Morton/Cole and Weber advertising agency. My college degree is in Broadcast News from the University of Oregon School of Journalism. I am nationally accredited by the Public Relations Society of America to practice public relations. I've taught online courses through the Management Institute of Portland Community College for more than five years. That's where I developed and refined the online training methods I present to you. I have published widely in magazines and newspapers. Earlier in my career, when I was in journalism, I wrote for national and regional publications. Since moving into my current profession -- less journalism, more public affairs -- I have tried to publish something at least once a year. For a long time, one of my projects was maintaining The Public Involvement Network, the major web site on the profession of public involvement, now run by the International Association for Public Participation. My main clients are members of the group International Association for Public Participation. "Public Involvement," generally speaking, refers to community decisions such as land use planning or siting a new public facility. When I am not working at this communications stuff, I like to work on old houses. I have rehabilitated several including the one I live in now, which was built in 1906. I serve on the Board of Directors of a non-profit community development corporation, Avenue Plaza. I recently bought a new tool box that is real neato, with all kinds of compartments and a handy power cord attached to the side. This is my computer set up: I have a IBM compatible, assembled from various parts over the past six years. The computer had a brand name once, but I have replaced every component. It has an AMD 6, 3D, 2 by 300 CPU, with 96 Mgs of memory and two hard drives. My Internet connection is cable. I work in Windows. |
